Eligibility for the Home Renovation Savings (HRS) Program
- Homeownership and Location: You must own a home in Ontario that is connected to the province’s electricity grid (excluding Cornwall Electric customers) or receive natural gas from Enbridge Gas.
- Home Type: Eligible homes include single-detached, semi-detached, row houses, townhomes, or mobile homes on permanent foundations. New constructions and homes with less than six months of occupancy are not eligible.
Primary Heating Source: Your home’s primary heating must be either:
A furnace or boiler fueled by Enbridge-supplied natural gas, or
Electric resistance heating (e.g., baseboard heaters or electric furnaces) connected to the IESO-controlled grid.
- Previous Program Participation: You must not have received, nor expect to receive, rebates for the same upgrades through other programs like the Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) or HER+.
- Energy Assessments: For bundled upgrades, a pre-retrofit and post-retrofit EnerGuide home energy evaluation must be completed by a Registered Energy Advisor licensed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).
- Upgrade Requirements: To be eligible for rebates, you must install at least two qualified energy-efficiency measures within 180 days of your pre-retrofit audit or by December 31, 2025, whichever comes first.
